Lekker Balls - Lekker Life Daredevil Run – Ticket Sales Open!

Seventeen years in and the Hollard Daredevil Run shows no signs of putting its trousers back on.

The Hollard Daredevil Run has become far more than a fundraising event – it’s helped build a national movement that encourages men to speak openly about their health and seek help sooner.

CANSA is incredibly grateful to Hollard and every participant whose courage and commitment enable CANSA to continue providing awareness, early detection, screening and support services to men across South Africa

The “Lekker Balls; Lekker Life” 2026 campaign has been launched and men of all shapes and sizes are called upon to order their kit and sign up now!

The event returns to Zoo Lake in Johannesburg on Friday, 23 October at 3pm with participants elsewhere able to register and run in their own neighbourhoods, workplaces, schools or universities anywhere in the country.

Registrations for the 2026 Hollard Daredevil Run open from 1 July and tickets will be available from Ticketpro at R200, which includes the courier of a registration pack and a complimentary purple speedo.

Under this year’s tagline the 2026 cheque handover and campaign launch recently took place at Hollard Campus in Parktown, Johannesburg.

The R1.2 million raised in the 2025 Hollard Daredevil Run was formally handed over to CANSA and the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) to fund awareness campaigns, Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) screening and patient support.

Hollard’s Daredevil run enables CANSA to extend its reach into communities through education, awareness campaigns, screening initiatives, and patient support services. These funds enable CANSA to educate men about their cancer risk, encourage early detection, and provide support to those affected by cancer and their families. Ultimately, these programmes help reduce barriers to care and improve health outcomes by ensuring more men are diagnosed and treated earlier.

From 30 May to 19 June 2026 CANSA conducted six screening clinics in Soweto, Okiep, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, Mangaung, and Atteridgeville, where 113 PSA blood tests were done, of which 8 men were referred to medical practitioners due to abnormal results. Furthermore, 163 people were reached through educational awareness talks around symptoms of cancer and early detection.

Thank you Hollard and each Daredevil run participant for making more PSA screening possible, and for encouraging men to be aware prostate and testicular cancer and the importance of monthly testicular self-examinations – you are potentially saving lives!

How CANSA Helps

Contact your local CANSA Care Centre to arrange for your annual PSA blood test. This is recommended for men aged 50 years (40 – 45 years for those at high risk):

• The PSA test is a blood test used primarily to screen for prostate cancer.
• The test measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the blood, as raised levels may indicate prostate inflammation or prostate cancer.
• PSA is a protein produced by both cancerous and non-cancerous tissue in the prostate, a small gland located below the bladder in men.
• The blood is sent to a laboratory for analysis.

CANSA also provides free emotional support through our Tele and Virtual Counselling service available in most SA languages, our support groups and free clinical counselling to help cancer patients cope with side effects of cancer, treatment, and pain control – email info@cansa.org.za to request this service.

Patients living far away from treatment centres can ask their oncologist to book a stay at a CANSA Care Home for the duration of treatment, where meals and transport to and from treatment sessions will be provided.
