CANSA Shavathon 2026

Shavathon at Selected Malls this Weekend and All Year Events

Shavathon is a time to show that you stand with cancer patients - recognising their perseverance in fighting cancer, and recognising the loved ones and caregivers who support them...

We don’t like to think of things like cancer – but CANSA invites you to “Be Courageous” and take that moment amidst the busyness of life and treatment to acknowledge and honour those fighting and those caring, by spraying your hair, shaving your hair or donating your ponytail to make extremely affordable natural hair wigs for cancer patients, available at our CANSA Care Centres.

Take time this weekend, Saturday 28 February 2026, and participate at Shavathon events at selected malls across the country.

It’s About Patient Care and Support

Your moment to ‘be courageous’ and honour a loved one going through treatment or a caregiver caring for a loved one, will raise awareness of those affected by cancer and also help fund CANSA’s free services to cancer patients, caregivers and loved ones.

Free services include:  CANSA Tele and Virtual counselling in most SA languages by trained counsellors, support groups (face-to-face; WhatsApp and FBK); guidance from our Clinical Nurses regarding coping with the side effects of cancer, cancer treatment, dietary tips, stoma care and pain management – enquire at info@cansa.org.za; our Advocacy department assists patients experiencing stock shortages, delays in screening and cancer treatment, and lack of access to appropriate pain management medications; transport to and from cancer treatment centres is provided to our cancer patients staying at CANSA Care Homes, who would otherwise live too far away to receive treatment. Children and teens with cancer and their parents / guardians stay at our CANSA TLC Lodges for free during treatment. Our two TLC wig banks for children / teens provide free wigs to those in need.
